Stitch order path

SummaryChoose where an object starts and ends sewing, when Auto is not the path you want.

Stitch order path is last in the right panel, under Underlay. It marks where the needle enters this object, where it crosses, and where it leaves. Those marks are not the shape’s nodes.

Auto lets Export pick the nearer end. Use Manual when the object crosses itself, or when a jump would cross a gap you want to avoid.

Lettering has no Stitch order path. Words sew letter by letter, each in the order its font was digitized.

Auto and Manual

  1. Select a closed shape, or a path that can take a stitch-order path.
  2. Under Stitch order path, Auto is the default.
  3. Click Manual. Edit path appears.

The hint on Auto: Auto lets Export pick the nearer end. Manual if this piece crosses itself.

Place start, crossings, and end

  1. Click Edit path.
  2. Tap the outline for point 1 (Start), then each Crossing, then the End.
  3. The list on the right names them. Top sews first. Drag a row to reorder. × removes a point.
  4. Click Done.

The status: Stitch order path set. Export will follow it. Export will not reverse a manual path.

Play Simulator. The needle enters at the Start mark.

Which object sews first is a different job: drag rows in The Objects list.
